When I think of God’s love and examples of His love, I think of Paul. His whole life was
dedicated to sharing how amazing and unconditional God’s love was.
For instance, Paul could look past his past of persecuting Christians because he knew God’s love was greater than his sins.
He praised God while being in prison and knew God hadn’t left him to suffer with no purpose.
1 Peter 4:16 – “Yet if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in this matter.”
I fully believe that the reason Paul was able to endure so many trials was because he knew what it meant to be loved by God. He made it clear that as Christians, we WILL face trials, but there are ways to stay faithful through them. During Paul’s hardships, he remained faithful in God’s promise that He loves him.
2 Timothy 3:12 – “Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.”
The Big Question:
How do we get through trials?
Remember how loved you are by the Son of God. The nature of God is love and His love is eternal. He will never stop loving you.
Seems like such a simple answer to such a deep question which is often asked with so much pain. When we know how truly loved we are by Christ and root ourselves in that truth, we can’t be knocked down by this world. That doesn’t mean you won’t have things happen, or you won’t fall on your knees every once in a while, but you will have the courage to get back up.
When you face trials, you can look at them knowing that the trials will not separate you from the love of God. Being loved by God means you will know the fullness of God. Root yourself in His love because you will be rooting yourself in something unshakeable.
Daily things you can do to root yourself in His love:
- Start your day off in His word because it sets the tone for your day.
- Write out verses about God’s love for you and put them places you will see every day and be reminded of His love.
- Show someone else God’s love through you. (Write an encouraging letter to someone, pay for someone’s coffee, send a nice text)
Life is hard and God often sends us trials and disappointments so we will value His love and cling to it. When my life is going great and I'm not dealing with any big disappointments, I stop clinging to God’s love. Because of that, I think God sends me trial after trial to remind me to cling to Him even in the good times. We have to praise God for his love and commitment to us in the good and the bad. 2020 is definitely the year to put that into practice.
Let yourself fall into something that cannot be shaken today. God's, love.
